Fast Like a Girl
The book Fast Like a Girl, written by Dr. Mindy Pelz, has already been out for a year and a half. I’m going to assume that if I’m behind on this, some of you must be as well. I came across an interview of Dr. Pelz, on Dr. Mark Hyman’s YouTube channel, while searching for ways to reset my hormones.
A couple of months ago I had a consultation with a Functional Medicine Dr. to discuss the benefits of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy and whether or not I would make a good candidate (unrelated to hormones). I was curious if it may help with some nerve sensitivity that I’d been having in one of my teeth. In the end, I chose to not go ahead with that treatment for now.
Instead, the conversation that the Dr. and I had, led me in a direction towards learning more about hormones and specifically, how to balance them naturally. I wanted to know, how does one put their hormones back into a healthy and natural rhythm without spending thousands of dollars on fancy tests, supplements and Dr. visits.
When it comes to health, I tend to believe that nature typically, has a solution.
So, I went home duckduckgo’d it, and this video popped up. I was intrigued by what Dr. Pelz shared and began looking deeper into her work. After watching a few more videos and doing some reading on her website, I bought Fast Like a Girl which led me to attempt The 30-Day Fasting Reset that is laid out in the Book.
