making sense of the curve

At the age of 16, I was diagnosed with scoliosis and for years I lived with chronic and sometimes debilitating back, hip and knee pain. It took a couple of decades to find the tools that I needed but these resources dramatically changed my life and helped to reduce my pain down to none.

A hugely helpful resource has been Neuromuscular Massage and more specifically, Neurosomatic Massage at The St John-Clark Pain Treatment Center in Clearwater Florida. Here is a graduate directory that you can use to search for practitioners in your area.

When I was 3o, I went back to school and became a licensed massage therapist and have now been practicing and helping others (many with similar issues) for the past 13 years.

After receiving the right kind of massage for a few years, the pain in my body had been reduced enough that I wanted to begin learning how to exercise properly. I hired a personal trainer twice a week to teach me Functional Fitness. It took some serious dedication and hard work but the results have been wonderful. At the age of 38 , I was stronger than I had ever been before and even better, I had NO PAIN.

Since then, I myself have become certified through Mike Boyle’s Training Program. Check it out if your interested!
